FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is ExactSky Weather free to use?+

Yes. Every forecast, the 15-day outlook, and live radar are free with no paywall or sign-in required. The Service is sustained by non-intrusive advertising, not by selling user data.

Where does your weather data come from?+

Live forecasts, current conditions, and hourly data come from Open-Meteo's commercial API (1 km-resolution models), used under a CC BY 4.0 licence. Air quality comes from Open-Meteo's Air Quality API. Historical averages and "normal" comparisons come from NASA POWER.

How often is the forecast updated?+

Live conditions and forecasts refresh roughly every 15 minutes. Air quality refreshes every 30 minutes. You may briefly see a cached value between refreshes — this keeps the site fast without re-fetching identical data on every visit.

How accurate is the "vs normal" comparison shown on city pages?+

It compares today's forecast high against the actual 1991–2020 monthly average for that location, computed from NASA POWER's real daily historical data — not a single reference year. The recent-days chart uses NASA POWER's actual published daily highs, which typically lag 2-7 days behind today.

Do you have a mobile app?+

Not yet — Android and iOS apps are in development. The website is fully usable on mobile in the meantime.

Is my location tracked or sold to advertisers?+

No. Location is only used to show you relevant weather (via your browser's own permission prompt, or a city you search for) and isn't sold or shared for advertising profiles. See our Privacy Policy for details.

I found an incorrect forecast or a bug — how do I report it?+

Email support@exactskyweather.com with the city, tab, and what looked wrong — screenshots help. We investigate every report; see the Contact page for other inquiry types.

How can I advertise on ExactSky Weather?+

Email advertising@exactskyweather.com — see the Contact page for details.
